This classic Mom recipe for Sunday dinner Beef Stew. The crock pot always went on in the morning and by the time we got back from church, the house smelled wonderfully. For the "hurried" recipe it still takes 6 hours, so always make this in the morning and by the time you get back from work you can finally eat what you've been thinking of all day.
Slow Cooker Beef Stew
Seasoned Flour:
2 cups flour
2 tbsp salt
1 tbsp celery salt
1 tbsp ground pepper
2 tbsp ground mustard
4 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp ginger
1/2 tsp ground thyme
1 tsp sweet basil leaves
1 tsp oregano
2 tbsp garlic powder
Cube roast/beef cut, roll in seasoned flour, and brown in hot pan. Add water and stir to loosen browning.
Mix in crockpot, high for 5 to 6 hours, low for 10 to 12 hours.
4 cups water
1/2 cup red wine
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp paprika
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 bay leaves
celery leaves
