Thoughts
In combination with the ginger fried rice, this recipe is tremendous. The tofu, as long as you remember to velvet it, is tasty and sweet while the sesame seeds compliment it nicely with a woody earthy taste. Delicious both fresh and reheated, this is a great stir-fry-and-store meal.
Honey Sesame Tofu
1 block extra firm tofu
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp red pepper flakes
4 tbsp honey
2 tsp Oyster sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tsp corn starch
2 tbsp sesame seeds
3 green onions, chopped
Olive oil
Stir together 1 tbsp soy sauce, red pepper flakes, 3 tbsp honey, oyster sauce, salt, pepper, rice wine vinegar, and oil. Cut tofu into 1/2" cubes and cover in sauce. Let sit for at least 15 minutes. Fry in olive oil until a light crust develops. Add remaining soy sauce, honey, and corn starch to marinade bowl and whisk together. Pour sauce over tofu in pan and bring to a quick boil and reduce to simmer. Let sauce thicken. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve over rice.
